2. Introduction :The background information, importance/significance of that research area and why it interests you. Relevance to our class topics. One or two short paragraphs. This is where you are going to use the literature you survey to introduce the topic and explain what the scientists are working on and why. 3. Objectives – This is actually the aim of their research. You can list the objectives of the specific research topic in their article and what you think they tried to explore, research or investigate. In point form and 2-4 objectives will be sufficient (depends on your topic and the specific article you pick for the assignment). The objectives should relate to the hypothesis/hypotheses the researchers build up their research on. 4. Methodology – How the researchers utilized existing techniques or invented new techniques to work on the above objectives. You don’t have to explain the technique in great detail if the paper is not about the new invention/new technique. For instance, if they used microscopy you can write that they used these specific microscopy techniques and why that seems to be the best approach, in 2 to 3 sentences. Any other assays? Molecular biological tools? 5. Results and findings – What were the major findings of the research topic. Clearly state the authors’ arguments, evidence and conclusions accurately. Demonstrate a firm understanding of the implications of each results and how they relate to one another. You may include a figure/image or table but not too many as it will take up lot of space in your assignment. 6. Discussion- This is where you will add your thoughts and ideas and suggested if there is any. You can describe the significance of the research findings in more detail here. Can be 2-3 paragraphs or more. You have the opportunity to discuss the application of methods, advantages, disadvantages and anything you feel that needs to be improved (if there is any). You can start the first paragraph by stating the overall idea of the research and later discuss how well the scientist/(s) have been able to answer the research questions they initially hypothesized. 7. Campus Research & Experts Identification This component of the project will help you make connections between your topic (or a closely related topic/within the field) and experts in the field (may or may not be from University of Manitoba) by identifying faculty members who do research in similar areas and with whom you may be interested in doing research in future. (you can look up research interests when you go to faculty members profiles on University websites). You may identify one or two experts and one sentence each why you would like to work with them. 8. References Use a proper format like APA style or MLA and use the same format in the entire assignment and the poster. • In-text references – citations – (use parenthesis last name and year eg: Fernando et al, 2020, Fernando and Schroeder, 2018) • Reference list at the end o Proper citation method for URL o Book chapter o Journal article
