Movie Chosen for project by Nahal : The butterfly effect movie Chapter 14: personality (psychology textbook) Each group will pick a chapter from the book and a movie/TV show that can be related to the chosen chapter. • Each chapter and movie/TV show can be picked by a single group and selection will be on a first come first serve basis. • You need to make a connection between the movie/TV show and a topic in the chapter. You don’t need to cover everything in the chapter. You can focus on a single aspect in the chapter that is the most relevant to your movie/TV show (See the example below). • Here is a brief outline that you can use to structure your presentation: o A summary of the relevant section in the chapter you selected. o A more detailed coverage of the focal topic in the chapter. o A summary of the movie/TV show. o Coverage of which events/situations/behavior are related to your topic and why you think they are related? o APA style reference page (please follow the link for a guide: https://researchguides.library.brocku.ca/APABusiness/cite-in-presentation) • Below is an example of such structure: o Movie: Split (2016) o Chapter: 15 – Psychological Disorders o Selected topic: Dissociative Disorders: Dissociative Identity Disorder o Brief introduction to psychological disorders (how they are defined, how we understand them, how they are classified etc.) o Fundamental aspects of dissociative disorders (what do we know about such disorders?) o Summary of the movie Main characters Events/situations/behaviors that are relevant to dissociative disorders (you can show short clips to make your point) o They are related because the character in the movie has 23 distinct personalities residing in the same body congruent with the chapter’s definition. Those different personalities have their own characteristic and independent from each other suggested by American Psychological Association’s manual. • The students will be graded by me and other students in the class based on the following criteria (these are the criteria provided in the rubric which is provided below) o Content Importance of topic, relevance, accuracy of facts, overall treatment of topic o Organization/Clarity Appropriate introduction, body, and conclusions; logical ordering of ideas; transitions between major points o Completeness Level of detail, depth, appropriate length, adequate background of information o Grammar/Mechanics Correct grammar and usage that is appropriate for audience(s) o Documentation Proper support and sourcing for major ideas, inclusion of visual aids that support message o Delivery Adequate volume, appropriate pace, diction, personal appearance, enthusiasm/energy, posture, effective use of visual aids, good time management o Interactions Adequate eye contact with audience, ability to listen and/or answer questions • Please see the example presentation at the end of the document.
