• 1. Why did you choose this book?

(plz edit the following:I found this book without expectation on one of the Japanese website which introduce some Estonian

literature. This literature is quite short, however the story line which describe the girl student from Chile falls in love with dull middle-aged Estonian man somehow refers to my actual life in abroad which . Also, the scenario setting especially regarding the main character; Conchita Suarez reminds me the Estonian history which had some immigration cases to Germany durning the World war Ⅱ, and Chile which the main character comes from is one of the immigrant nation which is surrealistic and can be possible as an exchange student around me.)

• 2. Give very briefly some contextual information about the author, book, literary period when book was written.

(plz edit the following; The author; Mehis Heinsaar was born in Tallinn in 1973, Heinsaar grew up in southern Estonia. He graduated from the University of Tartu in Estonian philology. The author originally aspired to become a long-distance runner, however started to write the poetry and making his debut as a poet belonging to the literary group Erakkond (The Group of Hermits) in 1997. His published volumes of poetry and short stories/novels are awarded three-time winner of the Tuglas Prize. The first published short stories collection is Vanameeste näppaja (Snatcher of Old Men, 2001). The short story “ Death among the iceberg” is posted on the online magazine for international Literature called WORDS WITHOUT BORDER on October 2015. 

Heinser’s work has been translated into many European languages such as Danish, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Russian and Swedish not only in English because of  winning three prestigious short story awards in Estonia. )

(Plz edit the following; My opinion; This book brought me some interesting realisation of the power of literature which describes the author’s imagination or the real experience to share the reader by words. Mehis Heinsaar is well known as a writer who often put the the real world and hallucinations intersect thrillingly and writer describes his writing style as “the only way for him to see the world and to get closer to the real world”. The short story “Death among the icebergs”, is also not unexceptional which use realistic characters; Conchita Suarez and the middle-aged museum director falls in love accidentally. Besides, the description of Hiiumaa island in details are exceedingly lively which pictures clearly the scenes of the place for the people who have never visited there as well as those who already traveled there.)
