Find several sources of information in the media (e.g., journalism, social media, film, television shows, mini-series, etc.) that deal directly with mental illness. Discuss the quality of the coverage, the accuracy/inaccuracy of the images or stories presented, the assumptions made about mental illness, and an overall evaluation of the coverage. Be scientific and back up your arguments with research literature. Write a minimum of 2, maximum of 3 page reflection paper (double spaced, Times New Roman 12pt). What is the theme being covered in the media? How does this coverage affect those suffering from the particular form of mental illness covered? Does it add to stigma or reduce it? How could the information be presented in a better way? What would one conclude after being exposed to this media? Is the coverage culturally sensitive? Include your own reflections and comments.
