The Indian airline company called Jet Airways Ltd was an international airline company based with its headquarters
in Delhi, and its key training and development center based in Mumbai in India. Caught up in a rivalry competition
on ticket pricing in 2007, the company went bankrupt. In 2021 it was reported there had been an injection of
investment to return the company back to its operations. As a consultant, you are hired to use the principle of lean
methodology to reduce waste and prevent another failure for the company.
The Task
You are expected to deliver this work in a professionally formatted report, using professional terms and business
language.
A) Based on a research-based approach, using the principles of one of the lean’s methodology procedures,
provide a step-based solution as to how Jet Airways could have better faced this situation. Please use at least
three criteria are below. These criteria could include reducing the waste including:
o Overproduction: producing an item ahead of time;
o Unnecessary transportation: transport of inventory, such as hardware for a data center, that is
deemed needless and risky;

o Inventory: unnecessary inventory is space- and time-consuming and can be the cause of delayed
innovations;
o Motion: needless movements of workers;
o Defects: quality issues lead to rework and ultimately increase the cost;
o Over-processing: unnecessary use of advanced tools which prove to be money-consuming;
o Waiting: time delay between value-adding phases.

B) Using an agile-based process provide a plan to define the first project for transporting 300 passengers
from Delhi to Mumbai in the next 3 months. By allocating tasks to three team members in your agile team
describe what tasks they will undertake to complete this project within 3 months. This could include Agile
Team, Scrum Master, and Product Owner. Please describe how each member would organize their tasks in
an agile framework to back your recommendations with background research.
