Use your working outline, to write a 3-page, double-spaced essay that compares and contrasts one of the three topics listed. Your essay should contain an engaging introduction, a clear thesis statement, body paragraphs that examine the similarities and differences between the two things, transition words and a conclusion that has a definite takeaway.  Grading:  MLA format – heading is properly arranged, essay has a good title – 10 points Introduction – Is it engaging? Does it make it clear what two things are being discussed? – 10 points Thesis Statement – Is it a statement of your opinion, not just a fact? Is it neither too specific or too vague? Does it answer the “so what” question, i.e. is it clear you have something interesting to say about the two things? – 15 points Body Paragraphs – Are they cohesive and organized, with key information? – 15 points Outline: Is the paper organized according to the block outline? – 15 points  Conclusion: Does the paper have a solid ending? – 15 points  Transition words: Does that paper include at least two transition words?-  10 points  Grammar and Style: Is the paper free of grammatical and stylistic errors – 10 points
