Crisis Management Crisis management is the process by which an organization deals with a disruptive and unexpected event that threatens to harm the organization or its stakeholders. Recently, we have seen many successful and unsuccessful attempts at crisis management—usually the media covers the the situation more when the situation was handled poorly. Goal Locate an example of successful or unsuccessful crisis management correspondences produced after 2017. The crisis must be substantial and have a timeline. Therefore, find a situation that has more than one response to the crisis. For example, the Starbucks example shows how the CEO wrote an apology and then followed up with an apology video. The correspondences must come from the original source–meaning you cannot use parts of them found in an article. After, write a 1500-word essay in which you analyze the correspondences and argue why and how the overall approach was successful or why and how the overall approach failed. Make sure you choose a topic that has enough substance to write about. Please check in with me if you struggle to find a topic. Research You must use substantial concrete evidence from the correspondence and from three other reputable sources. In the module “Starting Your Research: Ethics, Information Sources, and Evaluation,” you will learn how to use specific databases to look for recent articles from reputable sources that will help you with this essay. You will document all sources in MLA 8th edition. Note: The sample Starbucks article posted below this prompt is an example of an article from a reputable source.
