You will use the assigned commentaries to answer interpretive questions about the passage, found in the attached Exegetical Project Instructions file. You should carefully read the sections from Carroll, Edwards, and Betz on Luke 11:34–36 (or Matthew 6:22–23). You can access Carroll and Edwards’ commentaries through the Module/Week 6 Reading and Study folder. Please note that you may be prompted to log in with your Houston Baptist University username and password to enter the Moody Library database. If you have difficulty accessing the direct link to the text, you can search for the books through the ProQuest Ebook Central search function using the following information: Carroll, John T. (2012). Luke: A Commentary. Louisville, KY: Westminster John Knox Press. ISBN: 978-1-6116-4202-5 Edwards, James R. (2015). The Gospel According to Luke. Grand Rapids, MI: W.M. Eerdmans. ISBN: 978-1-4674-4296-1 Summarize (do not quote verbatim) their respective positions on each interpretive question for your passage as well as the reasons/evidence they give for their positions (see examples in Exegetical Paper Guide). You do not need to state your own opinions in this module. You should attempt only to represent as faithfully as possible the opinion of each commentator. Please note that if the commentator does not discuss a particular question, indicate that, but be sure to read carefully to make sure you are not missing something in the commentary! You must submit your paper as a Microsoft Word document, double-spaced, with 12-point Times New Roman font and 1” margins. Your submission should be 800-1000 words. No title page or reference page is required. You should simply cite any resources you are referencing using parenthetical citations (e.g. Betz 245).
