Your choice will be the focus of your paper and you will analyze it, using the cultural-ecological perspective, in the following ways: Introduction should include an exciting opening with a brief summary of what you will cover in the paper PART I of your paper should include an analysis of the dish, product or cuisine (my choice is rice) using the cultural-ecological perspective including: what type of ecosystem does this dish/product/cuisine come from and why? How has the cultural history of this society and its relationship with the surrounding physical environment (ie, technology) shaped the evolution of this dish/product/cuisine? If you have questions about this, please see me before you submit your proposal. PART II of your paper should include an analysis of the current relationships of power within the production, distribution, and consumption of this dish/product/cuisine on a global scale. Essentially, how is its production/distribution/consumption being influenced/controlled by the dominant group? How does its production/distribution/consumption help the dominant group maintain a position of authority?
