In 1,250-1,500-words, write a well-developed paper that replies to the following prompt: Great Expectations has two endings: the published revised ending that ends happily with Pip and Estella leaving Satis House hand in hand, and the original ending where Pip and Estella meet just briefly and then go their separate ways, which Dickens scrapped upon advice from a friend. Discuss the two endings, their significance and meaning to the story and the author. Which one seems most in keeping with the spirit and tone of the novel? Use the text to support your point of view.
