Assignment
For this final assignment, you will design an intervention (training, workshop, group discussion, book group, etc.)
surrounding the topic related to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. You will want to consider how to best
present the material and who the audience will be (new employees, mid-level manager, senior leadership,
employees who have had complaints lodged against them, etc.).
Details:
Develop a 10-15 slide presentation (with at least 15-20 minutes voiceover of your content) :
Description of the intervention (narrative)
o Description of the intervention
o Program objectives
o Design of the intervention, i.e. structure (including a discussion about any materials that will be given to
participants) (narrative and bullet points)
o An example activity to be conducted as part of the intervention
o Target audience and how this intervention will help them to foster diversity and inclusion in the workplace
o A list of resources that will be used (with annotations – purpose, function, value) by the presenter(s) (bullet points)
o Assessment of the intervention
• 1-2 pages written Executive Summary of the project that includes the background for the project, any research
supporting the intervention, synopsis of project, objectives
• 1 reflection on the process of putting this intervention together
Assignment Outcome
By completing the final project (intervention), students will be able to:
? Identify several methods for increasing awareness of inclusion and diversity in the workplace
? Demonstrate a working knowledge of terms, ideas, practices in discussing and fostering inclusion and diversity in
the workplace
? Demonstrate an awareness of the audience and how to tailor a message for that specific audience
? Identify resources to support the discussion of diversity and inclusion in the workplace
