Assignment:
Course materials introduce the main aspects of formal film analysis: style and form, narrative, mise-en-scene, cinematography, editing, and sound (as well as film theory, film genres, and narrative alternatives). For your final paper, compose a formal analysis of a narrative feature film viewed outside of class. You must examine your film’s use of at least two formal properties. The goal is to identify how your film’s most salient techniques are utilized to express symptomatic meanings.
