In these chapters, Herodotus details the decisive battle of the Persian Wars – the Battle of Salamis. For this discussion, please address the following questions: how does Herodotus portray Artemisia in his Histories and what is his assessment of her? Do you believe Artemisia’s gender shapes Herodotus’ portrait of her; if so, how? Use evidence from the text to support your argument.
